Released in 2009, Coraline, is a fantasy/family movie rated PG.
An 11-year-old girl named Coraline and her family moves into the Pink Palace, a pink house with 3 apartments. While exploring, Coraline discovers a secret door, behind which lies an alternate world that closely mirrors her own but, in many ways, is better. She rejoices in her discovery, until Other Mother and the rest of her parallel family try to keep her there forever by giving her a hard choice of choosing to have "button eyes" which everyone had in this parallel world. Coraline must use all her resources and bravery to make it back to her own family and life.
Each one of Coraline's neighbors help her in some way to get home safely. In the apartment downstairs is Miss Spink and Miss Forcible who own hundreds of Scottish Terrior Dogs.
Upstairs is Mr. Bobinksy who owns mice and swears someday he will have a jumping mice circus.
Both of these neighbors are very odd yet extremely welcoming.
Down the road and through the woods is one more neighbor named Wybie, Coraline's first friend she makes while exploring outside. And while meeting Wybie, she meets a black cat who follows them around, who also seems to be helpful later in the plot.
